Remember When it was 80 Degrees Outside?

May 7, 2012 by Jen Leave a Comment

We certainly lucked out with the weather this past March as we worked on the kitchen.  We were able to paint in the basement {not so much once the cold came back}, we were able to shut off our heat and remove the cast iron heater in the bathroom {not so warm in the rest of the house once the cold came back}, and we were able to remove and install our windows with nothing more than a lukewarm breeze.

Almost all of the windows in our house had all been replaced prior to our purchasing it.  All of the windows, except those in the kitchen.

Those bad boys were still original to this puppy.

Complete with a pulley operating system {with one window in non-operating status when the remodel began}.

And shortly after we started the demo on the kitchen, the only window that was still opening was fractured.

However, now the space is occupied by beautiful, easily opened, double pane windows.

All that remains is to touch up the trim with paint.  We did save some of the original trim to keep with a more “authentic” look.  Some sanding, painting, and touch up on those bad boys and it will look like we paid an arm and a leg for some additional custom detail {when in reality, all we needed to do was be conscious during the demolition stage and know that these particular pieces were completely reusable}.
